8 After a dynamic year, Heraeus is well-placed for future growth. By spreading its organisation into its markets and by improving its punch of development and sales, the technology group now provides all its power to the service for its customers. An interview with Jan Rinnert, Chairman of the Board of Heraeus. Jan Rinnert, Heraeus again failed to increase its sales in 2014. Why are we treading water despite all active changes? JAN RINNERT: There are two main reasons for this sideways movement. There is the general economic situation which thwarted our development in some areas. The slackening growth in China, serious crises in the Middle East and the Ukraine which cause geopolitical risks, the Euro zone crisis still not being under control and, last but not least, exchange rate effects which prove to be detrimental to our growth – really not the best conditions for global technol- ogy player.
