11HERAEUS | ANNUAL REPORT 2014 | INTERVIEW WITH JAN RINNERT How will you ensure that all of the workforce will follow suit? JAN RINNERT: Most responses I receive consent to the new orientation of Heraeus in all its different facets. Our Vision 2020 is a picture shared by all of how the technology group will be successful on its markets in the long run. I therefore anticipate a far-reaching dedication to contrib- uting to this success. We must still keep everything in proportion, though, in order not to overstrain the organiza- tion – a pacemaker running far ahead of the team will not really win anything in the end. Taking the workforce with you and along the track of change is of course a matter of leadership and a shared set of values. We are consistently working on these issues. At the same time, our new employer brand will enable us to convince new talents to work for our enterprise. I am absolutely convinced that companies leaving as much room for putting ideas into practice as we do are few and far between. Do the family support the restructuring or their family- owned company? JAN RINNERT: Yes, without restriction. Reorganizing the enterprise to this extent would not be possible without the shareholder’s tail wind. Apart from consenting to our initiatives this does of course rely on financial assistance – all of the capital gained from selling off the dental branch has been left in the company which gives us enough lee- way for future acquisitions and other measures. After all, the family are vitally interested in setting up their long- established company in a sustained and forward-looking way. Only if we are ready to face the current and future challenges will we be able to retain the financial indepen- dence and autonomy of a family-owned company in the long run. This is and will remain to be at the heart of Heraeus. »Change must be kept in proportion. What we wish to do take all our colleagues along with us while con- vincing new talents to work for us.« JAN RINNERT
