55HERAEUS | ANNUAL REPORT 2014 | LOCATIONS OF THE FUTURE Strategically develop locations At the same time, over the past few years, HSM has evolved from a pure service provider to a strategic ‘crea- tor’ in the area of site management. “Due to the inten- sive competitive situation, the requirements placed on locations have increased not only as places for efficient production, logistics or development, but also as attractive places to work. The ongoing further development of our sites thus has a huge significance for the future success of Heraeus”, explains Dollansky. “In this respect, it is always our objective to keep the overall interests of the corporation in mind, to set uniform standards and increase synergies, which single divisions perhaps do not see and which are not directly in their own individual interests.” Always thinking of the similarities of the individual divi- sions, despite all their differences, and devising advan- tages for the entire corporation – this is what Dollansky has in his sights. Thus, for example, when allocating areas on the works grounds, HSM manages what use would make most sense from the corporation's point of view or helps to promote a sensible pooling of the necessary infrastructure. In view of the diverse scope of his duties, the site manager is able to profit from the broad experience gained before his time at HSM in various companies in the areas of production, logistics and factory planning. “It is not only the technical or commercial know-how, but in particular the experience of motivating employees and conducting a dialogue with various groups.” Dollansky and his team have thus not only sought intensive discussions with the Heraeus developers as future tenants, in order to design the new building so that it meets their needs. But as the residents living right on the edge of the works site are also affected by the entire reconstruction of the site, Dollansky invites them to regular dialogue meetings in order to ex- plain the project and to hear their concerns and wishes at an early stage. “The daily challenge of always tackling new tasks, for which a solution cannot be seen at first glance, motivates me in my job – in particular when it comes to the Heraeus Technology Campus project”, says Dollansky. “For me, this will be one of the biggest projects in my professional life. For Heraeus, it is an important element in order to remain a successful family-run company, both in Hanau and worldwide, for many years to come.” ■ The centerpiece of the future Heraeus Technology Campus should be completed in the spring of 2017 – and provide room for more than 200 research and development staff.
