31HERAEUS | FINANCIAL REPORT 2014 | GROUP MANAGEMENT REPORT An active provider of vocational training In 2014, Heraeus again demonstrated its commitment to providing vocational training. Last year, 95 employees began a vocational apprenticeship at Heraeus, of whom 27 are following a dual work-study program. Heraeus also stepped up its collaboration with JOBLINGE, an initiative in which private and public-sector organizations work together to create opportunities for unemployed and low-skilled young people. Five JOBLINGE recruits began a technical apprenticeship at Heraeus last year. Master’s degree courses in a wide range of subjects were added to the dual work-study program for the first time. Including the new recruits, a total of 326 employees of the Heraeus Group were enrolled in vocational apprenticeships or a dual work-study program last year. This meant that in Germany the ratio of trainees to other employees remained high, at nearly 7 percent. A total of 97 people completed their vocational courses in 2014. Of these, 73 were taken on as permanent employees.
